Your Physical Rest Invitation
Operation: Un-Steamroller Your Body
Hey lovely,
Your body isn’t lazy. It’s tired-tired.
The kind of tired that doesn’t disappear with one good night’s sleep.
Muscles tight.
Nervous system on high alert.
Even resting can feel strangely uncomfortable.
Nothing is broken.
Your system is asking for a different approach: one where rest isn’t collapse, it’s maintenance.
This is information, not a life sentence.
What this doesn’t mean
Let’s clear this up right away:
This doesn’t mean you’re lazy, unmotivated, or bad at life.
It doesn’t mean you need to stop being ambitious or ‘do less forever.’
It doesn’t mean your body is failing you.
It means you’ve been adaptable for a long time, and now your body would like a turn to be supported.
If Physical Rest is calling you right now
You might notice this showing up if:
You wake up tired even after a full night’s sleep
You’ve been pushing through fatigue for so long it feels normal
Your body feels heavy, tight, or slightly ‘off’
A small experiment in Physical Rest
Physical rest isn’t bubble baths or quitting your job.
It’s small, real-life support that helps your system come out of constant overdrive.
If you’d like to explore this gently, I’ve created two optional supports:
📄 A short PDF with three simple physical rest practices (5–15 minutes)
🎧 A short audio to help your body settle without needing to do anything
Try one. Try none. You’re still doing it right.
You don’t have to do all of this.
You don’t even have to do it well.
Paying attention to what your system needs is already the work.
What to notice
What happens when your body gets permission to slow down?
Does rest feel awkward at first?
Irritating?
Emotional?
Secretly delicious?
Do you notice resistance, relief, guilt, rebellion… or the full bingo card?
There’s no wrong answer here, just information. And possibly some feelings you’ve been too busy to meet properly.
What to release
You might gently loosen your grip on the belief that rest has to be earned through getting ‘things’ done first.
Your body doesn't need you to deserve rest.
It just needs you to offer it.
A gentle invitation: The Great Rest Experiment
If this resonates, you don’t have to explore it alone.
The Great Rest Experiment is a cosy, supportive Substack community where we explore one type of rest each month, with no pressure to keep up and no expectation to do it perfectly.
We’re walking this path together, and there’s always room for one more.
You’re welcome to join whenever it feels right.
